Finding Brightsite's shape
The original faceted traveller, a first valley built from half-metre blocks, and early experiments in stone and timber.

Today, Brightsite began taking the shape of a world built from blocks. Half-metre pieces became the ground beneath your feet, the walls around a room, and the ledges climbing the valley’s cliffs.
The day’s work gave that world a setting, too: a small town between sandstone mesas, with a river running through it and a lake beyond. It is an early place to explore, build in, and discover what the game should feel like.
Meet the traveller
The traveller found a look to belong in this world, too: broad, painted facets, green trail clothes, sturdy boots and a pack strapped across their shoulders. Those simple shapes give Brightsite its first travelling companion, seen here moving through the town.

A valley with places to find
The landscape now has a boundary you can recognize. Tall sandstone cliffs enclose the valley, breaking into ledges, bands of colour and scattered spires. Pines grow across the ground below them.
In the middle, cobbled streets meet at a plaza. Houses line the lanes, a bridge carries the road over the river, and a jetty reaches out onto the lake. These buildings give the first valley a sense of scale: somewhere to stand at a window, cross a street, or look back from the water.
Painted clouds and warm sunlight help bring those broad shapes together, with haze softening the far cliffs.
Following the water
The river starts beneath a waterfall at the northern cliffs, passes through the town, and ends in the lake to the south.
Today’s water work brings translucent turquoise shallows, moving reflections of the sky, and gentler waves across the lake. At the waterfall, the falling sheet widens as it drops, breaking into streaks and spray above the pool.

Giving the materials their own shapes
The first material experiments ask how different things should meet. Stone and sandstone are being tried as solid pieces, walls, corners and openings, with their exposed edges shaping the result.
Timber is getting its own small construction study: beams meeting stone and sandstone supports. These test pieces help reveal whether a join looks deliberate up close, as well as whether it reads from across a space.

Still taking shape
The town is a generated layout for exploring scale and construction. Its people’s daily lives are still ahead, and the materials are early experiments. For this first day, the important thing is having a place to walk through and a visual direction to keep exploring.
